Was Louis XIV an Absolute Monarch


Louis XIV was an absolute monarch. An absolute monarch is a king with absolute power. He was known as “sun king”. Louis XIV was the king of France. He ruled from 1643 to 1715. In this essay I will be talking about why he was an absolute monarch.
                Louis XIV was an absolute that he controlled the rich people or high class people. For example he would let all rich poor live with him and also watch him while he is eating. He did that so he can control them and keep his eye on them.
                Louis XIV was very rich. For example he destroyed his old house to build a huge palace called the “Versailles”. Louis XIV didn’t care about the money, if it brings fame and glory to him or France.
                Louis XIV bought a lot of things from other countries. He bought trees from France and other things from the outer world. He did that because it showed wealth and power, and it brought more glory as I said before.
                Under Louis XIV’s rule France changed. France became the most powerful nation of Europe. This happened because Louis XIV’s thinking and wealth.
                Louis XIV liked to be center of attention. He danced in parties while holding gold. People were surprised and glorified and that is what he wants to see.
                Louis XIV’s words proved that he is an absolute monarch. “The state, it is me” was one of the most famous statement that he said. His actions and words proved that he was a king that can’t be replaced.
                Louis XIV centralized power. He created a bureaucracy. This means that he made the government under one control.
                Louis XIV would only hires ministers who will bring him glory. For example he hired a minister called Colbert; he was the minister of finance. What Colbert did was he improved taxation and helped industry.
                Louis XIV was really an absolute monarch. What he did in his life was something that proves he was an absolute monarch. A king that starts ruling at the age of four or five that really proves.
